I am considering devoting my Livejournal solely to shit-talking Myspace bands. It wouldn’t be nice, hypothetically, to say anything negative about bands that my girlfriend might potentially book in some non-existent situation (Michael Pearce would know what I was talking about in such a state of affairs, but would pretend not to). Anyway, have you heard of Black Letter Day? If you haven’t, their site has show reviews to acquaint you with them.
By the way, you might think that a review is something written by an ideally objective observer, not by a member of the band In such a case, you are stupid and don’t know what “review” means. In a “review” of their show at Blake’s, Black Letter Day tells us about a poorly attended show with a great vibe. Of course, they were honored to play such an awesome venue, in Berkeley, a great place for shows. One member asked the bartender what the cheapest beer was, and they said Pabst was only a dollar! This apparently blew his mind. Maybe one day they’ll get to a place where they give the bands free drinks. I know that’s my current aspiration. “Aspiration” means easily achieved history, right?
Hmm… this Myspace band thing will get old quick. Apologies to those who find this dull. No apologies to those who find this mean-spirited. I mean, these bands are harassing me! It’s a lot like all of those oh-so original stand-up comics who tell jokes about penis enlargement spam. In fact, Black Letter Day has a song called “Here Comes the Whip,” which, although I haven’t heard, I assume is about the very same subject.
